Ireland’s Ring of Kerry Ride

The views of slate roofed villages which give way to coastal paths leading to the Atlantic never seem to grow old as riders and their athletic Irish Draft and Gypsy Vanners wind their way through the area. The week of riding is fun filled with long trots and canters and some of the most bucolic scenery in Ireland.

We had a wonderful time in Ireland! We were a group of 4 the first two days, Gary and me and two of the loveliest women from Denmark. They were great riders and we had wonderful time together both riding and in the evenings when we had dinner together.

They left to continue their travels and then there was just the two of us! It was fantastic as we could go at a good pace and Natalii, our guide, allowed for perhaps a quicker pace than we might have had with a large group.

Donie O’Sullivan, the owner, was amazing. He and Natalii ran a tightly organized day, picking us up at the appointed time, having the horses ready, lunches provided and driving us back to our accommodation with luggage transfer as slick as could be.

Thank you for being so responsive to us prior to departure, it was much appreciated.

We had the most incredible horseback riding adventure! The horses were well behaved and fun to ride, and each day presented unique, breathtaking scenery. Four guides came with us and they were very knowledgeable and great at trouble-shooting on the fly.

We had a great time! It was beautiful from the moment we touched down. Took the train from Dublin to Killarney and were met at the stables by Donnie, who founded the stables and runs them!

We prepared for rain and had perfect weather without a drop the whole time. The views of fields, mountains, the logging trails, the beach riding; it was amazing. The accommodations were lovely, especially the Bnb in Waterville.

The horses were almost all Percheron crosses and did amazingly well with the warm weather. They were steady, incredibly well trained and knew their jobs. And despite the fact that this is their job- they were responsive to leg, and light aids. We did a lot of trotting and cantering, and had some glorious trails and tails. The guides were great and the hospitality was wonderful.

Even though the stables is a big operation (76 horses!) It felt like we were part of a much smaller operation with the care and consideration given to everyone.

This trip was life changing. Every detail was perfect. We stayed at lovely places, and the horses were well cared for. I was matched perfectly with the horse. My own horse is going to benefit from what this trip did for me as much as I will.
